I strive to provide reliable dog training for dogs of all kind. Living in city environments, our dogs come face to face with competing motivators and distractions every single day. This can make teaching our dogs to engage with us over the environment more challenging. Training should be fun, and your dog should WANT to work with you. By using play and other motivators that your dog enjoys, while also teaching them about rules and boundaries, we can create reliable behaviours so that your dog can live to their full potential, even in a city full of distractions. I am a balanced dog trainer that uses all 4 quadrants of operant conditioning to teach. I am open to a variety of training tools such as martingale collars, slip leads, ecollars, and prong collars, using whatever may be best for the dogs learning.

Training Without Conflictis a system of dog training developed by 2x World IGP Champion Ivan Balabanov that focuses on training dogs through biological and genetic fulfillment. The training system uses all four quadrants of operant conditioning and emphasizes a true connection and bond with the dog for best results. Training Without Conflicttrainers have been through extensive schooling to understand psychology, ethology, neuroscience and behaviourism and how it relates to dogs and how they learn. Ivan is an excellent trainer and his extensive video library can be accessed here.

Reliable Dog Training

About Courtney

It all started when I got involved volunteering and fostering in the rescue community in Toronto. My first foster had extreme separation anxiety and I was in way over my head. Helping her go from a frightened shell of a dog to a fetch playing confident girl was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. From then, I was hooked. I have since fostered over 30 dogs of various breed, size and backgrounds, and worked internally at rescue organizations to provide training support to fosters struggling with behavioural issues.

My world changed even more when I adopted my first dog Josie. She was my seventh foster and the most fearful and shut down dog I had taken in. She had little motivation to work with people, and presented a new challenge to me that I hadn’t yet had. I fell in love with her through the process of gaining her trust, and she never left. I went on a mission to help her be more resilient from the moment I met her. I worked with a few different trainers, educated myself with online content, and worked with her every day to make her stronger. Seeing her transform inspired me to keep working with dogs to help the human and dog team reach their potential. Today, Josie is my sidekick and best friend who helps me rehabilitate all the foster dogs and board and trains that come through my home. We enjoy hiking together almost every weekend, participating in dog sports such as GRC and Herding, and backcountry camp a couple times each summer. I would not be who I am today without Josie.

Education

I am a big believer in ongoing education. I strive to complete relevant courses, online videos, attend webinars, seminars, and read up-to-date science to stay in the know about all things dog training, and neuroscience to better understand canine behaviour.
